Notes:
- Since CalPad verion 1.5, you can set up to sync events and tasks to more than 1 sync source at a time.
- we are planning to support more syncing options to other sync sources in future update of the CalPad/CalPhone app.
Manual sync vs Background sync
Manual sync: the sync will perform when you touch on a button to command CalPad to sync, you can sync either tasks, events or both in this mode.
You can alsways perform manual sync from either:
- From main view of the CalPad, touch on manual sync button, and choose either sync tasks, sync events, or both.
- Or from CalPad Settings, Events & Sync, choose Full sync now - event will be sync manually, the sync source can be iPad calendar, or Google calendar, or both!
- Or from CalPad Settings,Tasks & Sync, choose Full sync now - task will be synced manually, the sync source can be Toodledo, or Google task, or both!
Background sync: the sync will perform when the CalPad is opened, or when you add/modify an existing task, event, etc. To allow background sync, you just need to select an option in Settings.
If you select the Auto sync option for either Event or Task sync, CalPad will:
- Automatically sync at the time when the app starts.
- Automatically sync after each user operation like add new/update/deleteā¦.
Note: in some rare cases it may takes long time to sync in the background, to avoid this trouble, just turn off the auto sync in the Setting view and perform manually sync instead.
CalPad Internal calendars vs Synced calendars
By default, the calendars you created inside CalPad is Calpad internal calendars. On the other hand, the calendar which synced from any sync sources will be grouped according to the source:
As you can see, the calendars in CalPad can be:
- Calpad internal calendars: this is the calendars created inside CalPad, you can see them under group named: "CalPad Calendars"
- iPad built-in calendars: they are the calendar which synced from iPad calendars, they are grouped in CalPad with name "iPad Calendars"
- Toodledo folders: the folder which are synced from Toodledo, in CalPad you can see them in group named "Toodledo Folders"
- Google event calendar: the calendar which synced from google calendar, in calpad they are under group "Google calendars"
- Google tasks calendar: the calendar which synced from google tasks, in Calpad they are grouped as "Google Tasks List"
How the sync will perform:
- CalPad will sync with the corresponding calendar under each group. For example, only data in calendars under group "iPad calendars" will be synced to the native ipad calendars. This rule will be applied also to the other groups.
- You can change the calendar from one group to another group to change the sync source. For example you can change a Calpad calendar to iPad Calendar so its data will sync to the native iPad calendar. You can do that in CalPad Settings view:
Tap on a calendar under a group, then choose Built in, you can change the group which the calendar belong to.
iPad calendar sync
To perform the sync, you can open the setting views, Events & Sync section, then choose either manually sync (Full Sync Now), or setup for background-sync. For background sync, the sync will start in background when you start the app, or make any changes such as modify an event, adding a new one, or delete an event.
By default, all calendars from iPad Calendar will be synced and automatically created in CalPad. The data will be synced 2-ways, so any changes (including Deletion), will be synced as well.
Note: the internal CalPad calendars (which are created inside CalPad) will not be synced to iPad Calendar. To sync them you need to change the group of the calendar to belong to iPad calendars.
Googe calendar sync
CalPad will sync with all calendars on a google calendar account. Note that you can sync with different google account, just change the account login information in Settings page. CalPad will sync with one Google account at a time.
